Yes, the Golden Mushroom was in Southfield, and yes it closed several years ago. It was a wonderfully old-school up-scale type restaurant (think Frank Sinatra era) – dark with lots of booths. It was fairly expensive for dinner, so there was always a big lunch crowd. They made the most awesome mushroom soup, which you can now get at Steve & Rocky’s restaurant in Novi – evidently the chef from the GM opened Steve & Rocky’s – the soup is heavenly.

The Golden Mushroom was located on Southfield Road ( near 10 mile, I think ) in the city of Southfield. Upstairs was very classy, expensive and very good food. Downstairs had a smaller menu offering, less expensive and a bit more casual. They have been closed for years. I believe that Reed Ashton was the owner and Chef Milos ran the kitchen.
