Okay..This is a true mystery. I can’t believe I’m waisting 5 points on this question, but I’m truly wondering about this.
There are no Sonic Drive-In restaurants in Michigan. There are no franchise opportunities in Michigan. I know this becuase I love Sonic and the advertisements are a huge TEASE. Why in the world do they advertise in Michigan?? The closest Sonic to Detroit (where I’m seeing the ads) is Cincinatti, Ohio! 4 hours away! What gives?
Pinkglam: Thank GOD I’m not the only crazy one!! My husband and I are planning a trip to Ohio JUST to get some Sonic. In fact, I brought home four breakfast burritos from ARIZONA to MICHIGAN just for my husband to enjoy…he certainly did. It was a bit embarassing to go through security, though! LOL

Well, Sonic buys time on cable channels just like any other advertiser. The problem is that since there are usually only two “feeds” of a cable channel (one with programming synchronized to Eastern time and one with programming on Pacific time), many areas receive commercials for products that they cannot purchase.
Also, since Sonic has franchises in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, you may be receiving the commercials as inducements to vacation in those states.
