My b/f just bought a boat. He is familar with lakes where he is from (by Kalamazoo) but not Lake St. Clair. Where can we find info about the lake. Specifically things on the shores – i.e. other public places to launch (other than Metro Beach), gas stations, restaurants, etc. We’ve bought two books and neither has been that helpful.
FYI: I live in Warren and grew up here. I know a lot about the area…just nothing about being ON the lake. I’m the careful one and as we have been on the lake a few times, I’ve found that I personally can’t make out any of the landmarks except a few. Is there an electronic gps or “Garmin” type thing that would tell us “hey, over there on the left is Sinbad’s restaurant – you can dock there & eat. Gas is nearby as well at Clark”. That’s kinda what I’m looking for. We know to get gas on land…but if we get low out there, I want to know where to go. My b/f is a good boater, but like I said, he doesn’t know this lake and is the type of person that goes by the seat of his pants…instead of preparing like I like to do. And yes, we’ve already got caught on Lake St. Clair in two storms and on Cass Lake a few weeks ago during the tornados & rough weather that caused the outages!! It was wild!! Thanks.

Check out St.Clair it’s self, it’s a small old Victorian town along the St.Clair river. St.Clair offers a small boat harbor, in town your find 2 gas stations. Speedy Q on the main road, has all your need as far as beer, pop, ice, chips and subs. There is a subway in town and a small supermarket, on Clinton Ave is Murphy’s Inn the food is great and they have great pizza’s.
It’s an old Irish style pub, a cross from St.Clair is Canada so as your going along the river you can look over to Canada.
From St.Clair you can head up towards Marysville by boat or head down towards Marine City.
It’s a great place to take your boat come 4th July, the whole town will be out on the boardwalk all day long.
Just partying and having family picnics and watching the ships goes by, listening to the live bands.
Come night it’s a fun place to watch the fireworks (dusk) if your out on the water in your boat, your going to have a wonderful time.
It’s good old fashion “Home-Style” get together fun
