I know it’s outstanding academically. Obviously. But, what are the students like? How is the campus life there? What are the cool restaurants and things to do in Ann Arbor?
Thanks.

There are more restaurants in Ann Arbor than you could ever possibly use. Campus is always buzzing with activity. The campus and the city of Ann Arbor are completely intertwined, there is no set line where you step off campus and into A2, so there is always TONS of activity and fun stuff to do. Tons of museums and art galleries and stuff are also free to students, there are always tons of lectures and seminars to go to, and the greek houses are pretty awesome, too. Parties, concerts, shows, seminars, sporting events, more clubs than any other university system in the country, there is no way anyone could be bored here without TRYING. There’s something for EVERYBODY here, it’s wonderful. And bus fare is included in your tuition so you can get anywhere you want in A2 for free. My personal favorites are the Arboretum– a big nature preserve thing within walking distance of campus that is free and open from sunrise to sunset, Pinball Pete’s, and the Brown Jug.
The stereotype is that Michigan students are snobby and elitist. I have not found that to be true. I don’t know how they act around students from other schools but up until recently I had never experienced someone looking down their nose at me as a fellow Wolverine. Recently I have encountered an excess of engineering students who think everyone in the school of Literature, Science, and the Arts are bumbling idiots walking into walls and slamming into each other, but the engineers mostly all live and work on North campus while everything else is on Central so that’s really not a big deal.
The vast majority of students here, in my opinion, are pretty chill and you should have no problem establishing a bubbling social life and having the time of your life.
ETA: Ann Arbor more dangerous than East Lansing? Surely you jest!
